MS4 constantly crashing

Like the title says, I've been having a lot of issues with musescore 4 crashing.

I am able to create and playback new scores without any trouble, but MS4 crashes when I try to open or playback almost any score that I made on MS3.

For reference, I am using a macbook that is on MacOS 12.0.1

I am also getting a lot of crashes with MS4, I imported an older score and while playback worked for a little while after adding and then removing a FX VST it hard crashed to desktop
