How to Turn off Chord Symbol Playback at System level?

• Dec 19, 2022 - 20:32

I have searched and tried every method found and in practice I still have to manually turn off playback on chord symbols for each chord symbol I create. This could easily be user error but if so I cannot find it. Anyone have any tips? Thanks!

Ahahaha, yes, those things both do a similar thing but not quite identical.
If you turn OFF "Play Chord Symbols" in the toolbar settings then the mixer greys out the Mute button and you can't turn them on from the Mixer.
If you turn ON "Play Chord Symbols" then the Mixer has a Mute button which you can toggle on and off without going back into the settings menu.
So it depends if you NEVER want to have chord symbols playing (in which case use the settings menu), or want to be able to turn them on and off quickly on the fly (in which case use the Mixer Mute button for the chords track).
Many thanks for this thread - the only way I'd spotted so far was to select the chord and turn it off, which of course only applies to that particular chord and there's no longer a "Style" button in that section to apply it to the whole piece. So my workaround was to select a chord, then rt-click it and Select/SimilarOnThisStave and then toggle the Play button in the Properties section so they're all off.
Obviously the new way seems much better anyway, with two clear options depending on how you want to use it.
Cheers!
Tony.
