Hide parts in Musescore 4

• Dec 20, 2022 - 14:54

In Musescore 3, I could hide instruments by clicking "i" and still hear their sound which isn't possible anymore. In Musescore 4 there is an "instruments" pallet but when I hide a part with it the playback from that instrument is also hidden. Is there a way to hide a part and keep the playback in Musescore 4?

Comments

In that instruments panel, keep the instrument itself visible; but expand it and then hide the individual staves inside it.

What does this mean?

I press I and the Add or Remove Instruments dialog comes up.
It shows all the instruments, even though the ones that are hidden because I hid them with MuseScore 3.

The instruments are hidden from the score and now I can't show them.
I do not know what you mean by "expand them"
The only thing it lets me do to an instrument under "Your score" is Make Soloist.

Step by step -
At top of screen select View, then select Instruments. Alternatively just press F7.
That will open the instruments palette

Go down to the instrument you want to hide and next to the eye icon is a small arrow. Click that and you will see the clef displayed
Click the eye icon next to the clef and it will hide the stave on your score, but let the music still sound.

In Musecore 3, it’s so easy to make any instrument invisible but hear its playback. In Musecore 4, I tried so hard still failed.
Could you please make a video: How to hide the instrument but keep its playback . Thank you and Happy new year 🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆

This is actually a problem. Makes it impossible to for instance, have a piccolo or bass trombone part but only show flute and tuba on the score.
