S/A T/B T/L B/B

There's the options for the above bits of text in the Text palatte... why are they there? Do they do anything? I'm not aware of any playback differences they make, and if they're invisible by default then what's the point of even having them? I've tried trawling the handbook for something, but I can't find anything about them...
