Timpani not sounding full range in new update
I've been writing/transcribing a lot of solo timpani work, along with some orchestral stuff. Unfortunately, I can only hear up to A3 when I'm writing, when some repertoire goes higher (common range to C4, professional range D4). Not sure if there is any way to fix these issues or not.

Limited range has been reported for several instruments here https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/13894 but not for timpani yet. You may want to contribute your knowledge to that Git hub issue.
The limitations are only in Muse Sounds, so if you need a greater range for timpani, you could switch back to MS Basic just for that staff.
