Is musescore a scam?

• Jan 9, 2023 - 14:58

I signed up for a free trial. When I tried to finish the trial, surprise: i cannot access to the settings if i haven't activated my account. I hadn't received any activation email, neither anything confirming my trial or anything.
I could use all the features of the web except when I try to modify the settings to end the trial.
I requested them o re-send the activation email, but I receive nothing.
I'm also trying to contact support (support@musescore.com) but I receive no answer.

I believe all this can be considered a fraud or scam.

Thanks for your answer Jojo.
I don't know the difference between musescore.org and musescore.com, but i don't think this matters a lot: From musescore.org when i you go to settings, you're redirected to musescore.com. And yes, there's a free trial.
Still no confirmation email recieved, neither answer from support. The "supposed" free trial is about to end, they will charge me 70€ if notghing changes. How will you call this?

I understand the difference, but it is obvious that this two things with the same name and the settings linked will be seen as one whole. If you want i could change the title to "is musescore.com a scam".
Anyway i believe this problem will keep on occurring, since a search on google shows a lot of people passing thru the same pain.

Can you not opt out from the https://musescore.com/user/4357673/subscription page? Or maybe post a screenshot of the page ? (do remember to expunge sensitive information before posting it)

I would now try to explain what Jo-jo means in his response, but you may ignore whats below if you are rather frustrated at this point, I do understand.
What you are currently on is the [MuseScore Pro] subscription provided by musescore.com. I agree the distinction between the sites does not help much for someone in your situation, but maybe It will still help to clarify that what you are (about) to be paying for is not some additional functionality of MuseScore the software, but rather storage on the servers of musescore.com; musescore.org serves the freeware [MuseScore] itself.
Not the most inconfusing naming strategy if you ask me. I'm also not a [MuseScore Pro] subscriber, merely a [MuseScore] user, so I may not be able to actually aid you, but I do hope the information above helps.

I second this: 100 per cent a scam. I did not authorize any payments, and am getting charged for a second year in a row, even though I have no app, and no subscription, and have used the site for 2 days in total, over a year ago. And any emails to their support go unanswered. I've provided copies to my bank for investigation.
