How to create multi-measure rests

Musescore isn't allowing me to create multimeasure rests. When I attempt to, it makes the whole piece a rest and I don't know how to fix it.

What version? MS3 or MS4? How exactly did you attempt to create multimeasure rests? I found via an Internet search, the following handbook pages:

https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-rests
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/measure-rests-and-multimeasure-rests

When doing a search for some element of Musescore, i use "musescore thing-I-am-trying-to-do" in the search engine text entry. Here, I entered "musescore multimeasure rest", from which I copied these links for you.

First notate all the music, leaving blank measures where necessary. When done, press the letter 'M' after which each group of blank measures will convert into a multimeasure rest. A number denoting the quantity of blank measures that were combined will also appear.
If you do not enter the music first, the entire score is blank and so will become a single multimeasure rest.

Realize that multimesure rests are usually shown on a score comprised of a single instrument; for example, on a part from a larger score.
