  1. Add lyrics on the first line
  2. Go back to the beginning of the first line, and enter ctrl-enter to go to the second line: add text. As soon as a hyphen is entered, the cursor jumps to the next position, but on the first line, in stead of staying on the second line. In addition, the text present on the first line is selected.
as if being reached from adding text on the first line.

Deselecting the now selected text on the first line, and pressing ctrl-enter will take you to the second line where you can then enter text, but there will not be a hyphen at the end of the previous half of that text, nor will you be able to get any underscores for holding across barline(s).

There is no workaround.

Ctrl+Enter isn't something you should normally be doing when adding lyrics - did you mean Enter to move to the next verse? This works as expected for me. As it is, I think you entered a single two-line syllable, which probably isn't what you want but it's what you asked for. Ctrl+Enter is like Ctrl+Space - meant for adding this formatting within a single syllable.
