Can't open 3.6.2 file with version 3.6.2 anymore

• Jan 19, 2023 - 14:44

UPDATE: I apologize. My mistake. Working from the wrong folder.

This is odd. I have a document created with version 3.6.2. I've downloaded and tinkered with version 4, but have not created or edited any existing files. Now when I try to open an existing file with 3.6.2, I'm told it was created with a newer version and can't be opened. I can open it in 4.0, but it looks different. I have never saved this file with 4.0. I checked the create/modified dates and they are both December 23, 2022 (more than a year ago). Checking the version history, I see that 3.6.2 was the last version before 4.0 release.
What's going on here?
Thanks
Chuck

The file was not modified...I compared to a backup from TimeMachine. I loaded it in v4, exported, then opened in v3.6.2. As you can see in the attached images, in v.4, some lyrics are not aligned properly -- this is why I wanted to see it in v3 to make sure it wasn't my mistake. In the imported xml file, those lyrics are properly aligned, BUT some are totally missing. see 2nd and 3rd bars.

This is why I've started a different procedure. If I'm going to open a v3 file in v4, I first copy the file from the v3 scores to v4 scores. Then open in v4. I then still have the v3 version intact. In your case, if you export your score as an mxl you will be able to open it again v3. Just make sure you save it to the v3 scores folder.
