Page turn on playing

• Feb 18, 2023 - 14:28

When playing a file, Musescore waits till the last node has ended before it turns a page. This makes it impossible to use Musescore for practicing. Is there any way to tell it to turn the page sooner, such as when a certain percentage of the last measure (by beats) or the last displayed line (by pixels) has been reached?

Which version of MS are you talking about? MS3 or MS4? Have you investigated the "Continuous view" aspect of seeing the notation?

We're currently using MS3.6.2, but we don't have to stick with that.

"Continuous view" sounds good. An online search finds that in section “Page/Continuous View” at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/viewing-and-navigation#continuous-v….

That page doesn't say how to reach the Page/Continuous View control, but since it talks about Select View→Toolbars earlier, it stands to reason that that control is provided by some toolbar. Of the ones listed there, the one called “Zoom/Page View” sounds the best bet. However, that is not an option under View→Toolbars in our version. Was that introduced only after MS3.6.2, or can it be displayed via some other menu?

Thanks, that indeed displays the “Page/Continuous View control”. That's strange - turning a page in the display doesn't operate on the file; why is that not under “Zoom/Page View”?

With that, it does switch the view about a bar before the end of the line is reached. But that's not what I meant by "page turn" since it only displays one line, leaving 80% of the page blank, for no apparent reason other than it may have been easier to program. I guess I'll stick with good old paper.
