Next steps in music production after Export

• Mar 4, 2023 - 20:35

Hi - I'm loving Musescore 4 and the Musesounds are great. With a little bit of panning in the mixer I can export to .WAV and get a really decent sounding recording. That said, I listen to professionally produced music and of course there is a big difference in sound quality. For example, if you listen to the Humanity albums of Thomas Bergersen, there is a quantum leap in the clarity of the instruments, the balance, dynamic range, the fullness of sound without it becoming a jumble, and so on. I'm not saying I think I can achieve anything like that, but I'm curious what the next step would be to transition from composition/notation to music production for a beginner enthusiast.

I know nothing about mixing, DAW's, or music production. Are there folks out here who compose in Musescore but then output into other software products to produce better quality sound? If so, what is your basic workflow? I've considered exporting each instrument individually to its own .WAV file and then opening them all up in Audacity on individual tracks to see if I could move toward a better output ... but I suspect there are more sophisticated options.

Thanks for your time.

As good as they are MuseSounds has too much reverb that you can't control. That said, open MuseHub and check out the effects you can get. Worth a try.
