Musescore not autosaving

• Mar 20, 2023 - 06:30

Had musescore 4 open and set to autosave every minute, the file had been open for 6 hours and had ten bars of progress. I started working on it after leaving it open for a while and made substantial changes to the score; then while trying to delete an instrument musescore crashes. So I look through the folder where backups are stored and found that it had not actually saved any progress. I had maybe 70 bars of progress done while I had it open and when I opened the backup it had only saved the ten from earlier.

I now only have screenshots of portions of the score that I have worked on.

This is insanely frustrating to know that the intended safeguard to progress does not actually function consistently.

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.2-230651553, revision: dbe7c6d

I have had the same problem. I wrote a whole section of music written and just when I went to edit something musescore crashed and the whole piece was lost, i tried to reboot musescore, and it just never came back up. Then again today I wrote a whole new piece, did a whole lot of progress, made a very beautiful piece of music, and it crashed while I was gone from my computer and the autosave got corrupted somehow and wont load anything, I am assuming now that all of that piece is lost as well. It is really tragic and frustrating to lose so much work and effort and to not be able to recover any of it and it is causing me a lot of grief. I cant always remember to save when I'm in the middle of writing music!
