Subtitle
Not sure if this is a bug exactly, only a curiosity and slight irritation.
When I create a score and do not enter a subtitle the score shows "Subtitle" where one would be had I added it. Older versions simply left that area of the score blank if you didn't enter a subtitle. So the newest version has added an editing step - removing "Subtitle" - that wasn't necessary in the older versions. Can it either go back to the way it was or perhaps add a check box to activate the subtitle field?
I'm using the latest (4.0.2.230651553) version.

I've noticed this as well. Not sure what the point of the filler text appearing is, and it's a nusiance for sure. Hoping they'll fix it soon.
Please report this on GitHub, https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/new/choose, as a 3.x regression
This was a deliberate design decision - see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/14820. The idea is, it's easier to remove it if you don't want it than to figure out how to add it later.

I know this might be seen as heresy, but imho that's bad design.
I almost never need a subtitle but OTOH almost always need a lyricist and that is not in by default.

I wouldn't have chosen that either, FWIW. Designs are not set in stone, and if enough people request a design change that could certainly be considered.

Would it be a possibility if the placeholders were set as invisible from the start?

That would require 2 steps to make it a real subtitle, at least one of which is not really obvious.

And would still annoy those that don't want a subtitle
From the design decision link (referenced above):
Just type a character in the text field (in the new score dialog), so that the placeholder text disappears, and then delete the character again: the placeholder does not return after this.

If I don't enter a subtitle in the new score wizard, it is pretty likely that I don't want any.
