Have "Play notes when editing" obey dynamics

• Mar 26, 2023 - 17:20

I find it super annoying that after I listen to the playback of a piece, I go to edit notes and everything is at max volume. It's like a child that you have to constantly ask to use their "indoor voice". Can we please have the notes played when editing (i.e. what's enabled by the "Play notes when editing" option) obey the local dynamics of the score, like the full playback does?

This suggestion builds on this suggestion https://musescore.org/en/node/283455, this question https://musescore.org/en/node/346077, and this person who thought this was a bug https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/15375. Even having the playback default to 63 instead of 127 would be an improvement. Ideally, though, this feature would be "smart enough" to play what you would hear during playback.

Personally, I'd much prefer the volume to be consistent - I don't want to struggle to here note during input just because the passage is ppp and I didn't turn my volume way up. But, indeed, it also shouldn't be unusually loud as it is in certain cases currently.

Anyhow, the issue is already logged and prioritized, nothing else to do but sit and wait for someone to volunteer to implement it...
