How to add figures of figured bass between bass notes?

• Apr 17, 2023 - 14:46

These are two measures of the score for SWV289:

As one can see, the figures from the figured bass are also given when the bass note is not. The bass note is an A with figure 7, the second figure is a 6. Is there a good way to input this 6? A similar situation arises for the 6 4 figures.

To add figures to a bass note, you can just select the bass note and press ctrl+g. However, this is not possible when no bass note is present. Of course, I could split the bass note A into two half notes and tie them, but I prefer it like in the example attached.

The way to do this is to hit CTRL+3, 4, 5, 6 (depending on the duration) whilst you're in CTRL+G figured bass entry mode. i.e. you type # to get a sharp, then CTRL+4 to move on a crotchet beat and then type the next figure.
I will try and update the manual to make this clearer...
