How do I make a melisma span between words when there is a half note, as in the example below?

To prevent the melisma from extending underneath the next note, you want to "escape" the underline by typing Ctrl + underline.

Why would you want a melisma there, it is simply not needed, as the syllable doesn't cover more than one note.

Simply because I want to improve my Musescore skills and want to do it look like as exakt as the digital sheet music. That's why. But I also realize it's not necessary to have melisma there.

Not just unnecessary - it's objectively wrong. Best not to reproduce outright mistakes in the original.

Of course not (?) I suppose that's why MuseScore doesn't have that option in first hand. Was also curious how it was even possible to make a Melisma there. Apparently that program where where the Original score was written in had that opportunity.

If you had to, you could fake it by using an invisible second voice. So it's possible to create incorrect notation; it just takes a little extra work. Probably if the original example was done in notation software, the program used made it too easy to do this accidentally, and that's how the mistake was made.
