Awful bugs in parts creation [Musescore 4]

• May 2, 2023 - 09:51

When exporting parts in Musescore 4, trills, octave lines and pedal lines do not show up in the single instrument’s part. Additionally crescendos and diminuendos do not show up either.

I suspect it is a bug concerning all lines.

A workaround is to cmd+x and cmd+v the item but it is a long and tedious work, and clearly shouldn’t be done this way.

A general question, asked honestly and without any bitterness or harshness: why has Musescore 4 been released even if so full of bugs? Wouldn’t it have been better to wait for a more refined end product? The software is awesome though for professional work is still lacking something. My point is that I changed to Musescore 4 to write my works because it was advertised as a finished release, but in my opinion it is still in a beta phase. And so I find my work blocked and slowed down because of bugs like the aforementioned one. That in Musescore 3 were not present.

This has been reported a few times, but so far no one has found steps to reproduce the issue in a score not already corrupted.

To fix the corruption in your score, it will probably work to go to the Parts dialog and click the "..." menu for each affected part and reset it.

As for why MuseScore was released before anyone knew about this bug, it's because no one had a crystal ball to know that at some time after release, someone would report it :-). But it never happened during the months-long alpha & beta testing phrase, or else it would have been fixed before release. Assuming of course someone was able to find the steps to reproduce the problem, So far it seems a very rare issue that no one knows how to reproduce.

Does this happen consistently and all the time with your MS4 exported parts containing such score elements?
Or only once in a while?
