Fix this damn port of scores' soundfonts

• May 14, 2023 - 17:46

Just tried — after a long pause in usage — opening my MS3.6 scores in MS4. Thing that happened around 6 months ago is my MS4 crashed for good with no particular reason after I tried to apply "the shiny good new sound fonts". Today I experienced this crap again — and I am being very disappointed with all the recent stuff happening with MS. See, not everyone wants to "re-type" their works in new environment. And such an unfriendly "evolution" of the software — that totally blocks me from just opening any work and revise it with better sound — pisses off for good. E.g., Sibelius and NotePerformer combo works just fine, though I still find Sibelius a bit clumsy and not as comfortable. Pity I now need to use uncomfortable software that sounds "nicht so gut" instead of simply get my older works ready (or as of today — revise my friend's fork) on the most recent environment.

I'm trying to understand your post.
It seems as though you want to be able to open your MU3 files in MU3. But can't because they are now associated only with MU4. Which crashed and now you are stuck.
The fasted way to reclaim them is to reinstall MU4. You don't need the fancy sounds. Open your files in MU4 and export as mxl. Those you can open in Sibelius or MU3.

I'm also confused by your post. Opening a MU3 score in M4 should work normally, everything will just magically look and sound better - no retyping required at all. If you have a specific score where you are having some sort of problem, please attach the score and describe exactly how to reproduce the problem.
