Adding Lyrics does not work
Choosing Add-->Text-->Lyricist opens a text element that attaches itself to the top left corner of the Title element.
Should it not attach itself to the 1st note in the score?

You are adding a lyricist, the person who writes the lyrics. To add the lyrics themselves see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/lyrics
Sorry! I see it now [Lyrics] at the bottom.
One thing though to improve using Lyrics...
Pressing TAB would seem like the logical way to move to the next element for entering text (rather than the right-arrow key). The right-arrow key is cumbersome while typing.

Use space, just like in normal writing
