Audio crackling during playback

I'm using Windows 10, and the latest version of MS4 on a Gateway Desktop computer. When I try to playback my score, the audio is very choppy and crackles. I noticed this was recurring problem for many others, and it was suggested to go into preferences and change the audio buffer size to the highest setting. After doing this, the issue still occurs. Not sure what else to do. Any direction would be appreciated.
