Short trills disallowing playback of tied notes

The first note is sounding, with the short trill playing. It then stops sounding as the barline is crossed (the second dotted half note is not being played)

Have tried re-opening file and cutting the measures then pasting them back, but no luck. Is this a common problem? I'm experiencing it on other files, too
