Low audio level in "wav" files

Windows XP Media Edition V2002 SP3 0.9.5 2012

In a message (http://www.musescore.org/en/node/3487) I recently commented: "For reasons I don't understand, wav files exported by MuseScore have a very low level .."

So let me put these questions to our developers: Is this a known problem? Is this low level in the export of wav files a bug? Or is it just the way things work? If it's a bug, will a new release solve the problem?

As I mentioned here it is actually the SoundFont you are using that causes the sound to be quiet. The two reasons a SoundFont won't use the maximum volume: (1) the sound samples used by the SoundFont were not fully normalized/amplified (2) some instruments were purposely attenuated so their relative volume (in relation to other instruments) is balanced.

Werner changed the volume control so that you can actually turn it up higher than 100%. Be aware that if you turn the volume up too high you will experience clipping .
