Playback of scores for plucked string instruments
I play in a small group consisting of (for now...) 2 mandolins, one mandola (or Octave Mando), guitar (nylon strings) and acoustic bass.
Playback (MuseScore 4.1) is spotty, with hitches, and hiccups. This is NOT consistent, the glitches occur randomly. This same issue occurred in MuseScore 4.0. This is quite annoying, particular when I use playback to "debug" my scores.

Just for grins, I played with the reverb (4.1 mixer). Turning OFF reverb on everything only seemed to make matters worse! It seems as if playback does multiple "plucks" on notes in the score, but NOT consistently, moreso when the score is "dense".
Please check the MuseScore download page.to see if your computer meets the specs for MU4. I suspect it doesn't. Although, I would suspect playback to be better than you say because these scores don't use Muse Sounds. Do they play OK in version 3?
You might try leaving the Mixer open to see if that helps. There are other setting to try depending on your OS
