reverse repeat, or, repeating a note or section backwards rather than forwards

haven't found this anywhere... using R to repeat a note or group of notes going forward is a great help. Is there a way to repeat backwards. example: i have entered a note or notes, and find that I want to use the same note or notes immediately before the ones I have entered. I know copy/paste will do this, it's just a shorthand that could be quicker... This is not about inserting notes, it's about overwriting immediately previously entered notes, with the selected notes. Repeat before the selected note, rather than after it.
