Can't close MuseHub

• Aug 15, 2023 - 18:21

For proctored exams in my college, I need to close all programs aside from the ones I need. I can't close MuseHub, though. I've tried using the "quit" option in settings, I've right clicked it in my system tray* and clicked "quit", and I've tried closing it in task manager. Within seconds, it restarts and is back in my task bar.

What should I do? Is there any way to have MuseScore and not MuseHub? I don't want to delete it, but I'll have to if I can't close the program.

Edit: replaced "task bar" with "system tray".

So, something not quite right with your Hub.
I have the Hub as a program in my menu that opens from the start button. Just like all my other programs. When I open the Hub, it is open on the right side of my screen. By the way, I have everything in the Hub turned off. You don't have it set to start when you turn on your computer, do you?
Can you left click on your screen and have the Hub go away? When it does, it remains in hidden icons. Select the hidden icon up arrow and the Hub icon should be there. Right click on it and select quit the hub. If it still comes back, I would uninstall the Hub, run a good registry cleaner and down load a new version. After exams, that is. The only reason you need the Hub is to install updates. You don't need or want it running all the time.

Go to the Muse Hub, click the gear icon on the upper right, and uncheck "Startup". Afterwards, restart your computer and see if the steps worked. Hope this helps, and take care on your exams.

If you are running Windows 10 or 11, do two things: If Muse Hub is always active, stop iit from automatically starting up. Ctrl-Alt-Delete and a menu selection gets you into the Windows Task Manager. First select the Startup tab and scroll down the list of applications till you find Muse Hub. (Highlighting the first app in the list them pressing the "M" key on your keyboard can speed that up by getting you to apps beginning with M).
Right clicking on Muse Hub's app record line will bring up an actions menu that includes "Disable" - select that option, so Muse Hub doesn't start at your machine's Start-up time.
Second, close the Muse Hub app window for now, it's just a regular Windows app, but one many people allow it on the Startup list. If you have a stalled Muse Hub installation process, and many people do have, it won't have a window you can close, so select the Processes tab in Task Manager and look in Background processes to find the inactive, probably crashed, Muse Hub installation process. The right-click menu will allow you to end that process, protecting your reputation.
