Crackling noise

Whenever I try to playback any project I get a non-stopping crackling sound. Not only that, but the playback gets significantly slower.
I have tried to adjust to higher bitrate in the settings, but it doesn't help.
I am completely sure the problem isn't with my configuration, because in task manager everything is only used at a maximum 40%.
I have a sony xm4 headset.
