Horrible Brass Crash Bug

• Sep 9, 2023 - 22:37

I have a score with violin sections, violin cello sections, Bb trumpet, and trombone. Any time I attempt to play the piece from the beginning with trumpets up to m. 3, the software crashes. I cant even save the piece to my computer OR the cloud. Instead? It crashes. No progress is saved.

The strings aren't the issue, though Musescore did randomly crash when I started to write in the 6th measure for the strings, erasing all of my progress, and forcing me to restart from memory. I have replicated this exact crash too many times to count in the past 20 min.

When I added trumpets, I tried to open this score multiple times and Musescore crashes because the file is "invalid." It wont save because the file is "invalid."

I can't even attach the correct version of my score that crashes because I can't save the version with any notes inputted into the trumpet line.

I have attached the most recent version of this score below.

Musescore 4 has been the most buggy platform to compose since note flight. Musescore 3 was great ! but Musescore 4 is unbearably unstable. Please fix this.

FWIW, I can open and play your file. Of course I have no idea what you intend to write from measure 4 on. So I copied and added the first three measures a few times just to see if there is a problem there. Still played. Then I saved it to my hard drive (I never use the cloud), reopened and played no problem.
Tell us about your computer. I assume it meets the specs to use MU4.

As a side note, I see the cellos at least take a stab at playing the tremolo, staccato, accented16th not figure. The violins don't seem to.

If you see "File is invalid" and can't save score, please make screenshot at least, so we can try to reproduce corruption.
