Musescore sounds weird and wrong octaves

When clicking a note or using playback, all the instruments sound incorrect, i.e. Bari sax, tenor sax sound like kazoo and trumpet mute hybrid, flute, clarinet, alto sax sound like a doctor's audio test tone, Sousa and Bari bugle sound like a flute an octave too high, etc.
