Rewind no longer displaying beginning of score until play actually starts in MuseScore 4

• Nov 3, 2023 - 11:54

This definitely works in MuseScore 3. Rewinding used to cause the start of playback to be displayed. Not having this means rehearsal is much harder if you have to lean over from your instrument, click rewind and then manually scroll to the start in order to see the start of the score before it you start playing.

Is there a setting for this that I cant find or is it a feature wating to be re-introduced?

Thanks very much.

Hitting home does work (I had forgotten about that) but MuseScore 3 did several things, which put to togetehr made it a better rehearsal tool:
1) Hitting rewind put the start of play back to the beginning and displayed the start of the score.
2) The metronome had the option for a count-in.
3) The score used to scroll smoothly (in continuous page display mode) and make the bit you are about to play on your instrument visible in enough time to play it.

All of these have workarounds (and I think 3. is partially implemented in a nightly build). But it's the combination of all of these that made MuseScore 3 better.

But thanks for the reminder about the Home button @bobjp. That is one less awkward thing to do! :)
