Crash

• Nov 14, 2023 - 23:16

I just spent the entire day working on a drum cadence, start to almost finish, was super proud of my work, and all of a sudden as I'm writing the software crashes and nothing saved AT ALL. I really just wasted all this time on something so good just for a crash to ruin all of it. I am severely disappointed in all of this. Please fix this, at least before something like this happens to someone else.

Sorry to hear this happened! But I'm confused - are you saying you worked all day on something and never ever saved it? That was not wise, I'm afraid. You should always always always save regularly in any computer program.

MuseScore does an "autosave" to recover unsaved work in the event of a crash, but it's not designed to handle such an extreme case of someone working an entire day and literally never once saving. But it might still be possible. On Windows, check AppData/Local/MuseScore/MuseScore4 and see if there are any ".mscz" files there. Normally if you had saved your work even once, the autosave would be in the same folder you saved to, but this is the special place they go when there is no folder, and it gets overwritten the next new file you create, so it might be too late. But you might get lucky.

As for fixing crashes - in order for that to happen, we'd need the score you were working on and the precise steps to reproduce the problem.
