How do I transpose?

• Nov 23, 2023 - 03:58

Hi,

How do I transpose a violin 1 part to alto saxophone and a violin 2 part to trumpet, while still keeping it in range of the alto saxophone and trumpet. Then how do I change the piano so that it would sound correct with these two new instruments playing?

Regards,

Eduan

Sorry I don't have v3 anymore. So I can't tell exact steps. But you don't transpose anything. You do an instrument change instead. That transposes for you. Check the manual.

It's the same in MuS 3.
Right-click on a measure, 'Staff / Part Properties", select new instrument.
If the first note line is changed to alto saxophone, it is probably necessary to select this line completely and move the notes down an octave with Ctrl+arrow down.

It seems to be a PDF import, where I suspect that many triplets are not reproduced correctly. See the three eighth notes at the end of measures 2 and 3, which are probably triplets in the original. And this happened in many other places as well.
A typical problem of a PDF import.
