soundfonts???

• Nov 29, 2023 - 04:12

hi, i'm pretty new to musescore and I tried reading what the website said about soundfonts but the giant walls of text are hard to read for me and even when i do follow what it says it keep saying error, my suspicion is that the directions only apply to Musescore 3 and not 4, but I'm new so I'm probably just being dumb. Does anyone know how to download and apply soundfonts and where to find them? If possible, please try to keep the directions concise, thank you so much!

If you are new to notation software, my advice would be to use the font that came with MU4. Especially if you did not download the HUB. Learn your way around first. Then branch out.

Some people learn by reading, some more learn efficiently by copying what they see, you may try the third party school, it has video tutorials and a vibrant community of learners https://school.masteringmusescore.com/p/musescore4

This page is valid for ms4: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/soundfonts
This page is valid for ms3: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/soundfonts-and-sfz-files

As bobjp has said, beginners should master basics first. The basics of changing the sound of any staff is switching the instrument https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-instruments
