Which version of this measure is better?
Hi all, I am wondering which of these is better? I prefer the bottom one aesthetically, but it breaks one of the notation rules I've been taught.
Time signature is 4/4.

The bottom but I thought that it broke the rule of "making beat 3 clear in 4/4 time".
There is some "rule" about notation across beat 2 an 3. In which case the top is correct. Supposedly the top is easier to sightread because you know exactly where beat 3 is. Although music is about more than sightreading.
Yes, the rule that you should put a fresh notehead right on beat 3 in 4/4.
