Mixer mute and solo not working for metronome and master channels and guitar playback problems

• Dec 19, 2023 - 14:26

Bugs found in MuseScore 4.2 in Windows 11:
1. Cannot mute or solo metronome channel in mixer after the first time clicking it off and on. (Master mute never worked.)
In other words, unmuting worked once, but now I can't turn off the metronome without simply lowering the channel fader to zero.

EDIT 1:
Correction for #1:
I can turn off the metronome with the button near the upper right corner of the window, but I can't use the M and S buttons below the metronome fader in the mixer.

  1. Guitars play back wrong sounds: muted only.
There is no sustain on long notes and the playback sounds like light palm muting.
I tried several times, but it persists after restarting, in new scores, with all the guitar sounds I tried.
Tenuto marks seemed to eliminate the problem. (Accent marks made the notes louder, but they were still short/muted.)

EDIT 2:
File attached.
The guitars in the first eight bars are written without any articulation marks and should play back as long notes but don't. Corrected playback is achieved in the second eight bars by adding tenuto marks.

I think it's by design currently that the mute button for the metronome and master channel are disabled. There are plans in place to expand this from what I understand.

As for a score playing back incorrectly - please attach the score and say which notes you are having trouble with.

Your score seems fine to me as far as I can tell on cursory listen. Which note of which measure in particular are you feeling is not correct? Are you using 4.2? And you've run Muse Hub (or Muse Sounds Manager) to install the Muse Guitars? Does Diagnostic / Muse Sampler / Check Muse Sampler report you are running 0.5 or greater?

As stated in my post update, the first 8 bars are muted. The single notes (top staff) are slightly short, but the chords (bottom staff) are very short and sound muted/damped. Bars 9 to 16 (with tenuto marks) sound correct.
I'm running MuseScore 4.2. I installed it and the new guitar sounds yesterday. I also just re-installed Muse Hub.
I checked the diagnostics, and the Muse Sampler Library was version 0.3.2.

RESOLVED:
I ran the check for updates in Muse Hub, removed and re-added the guitar sounds pack, and restarted my PC a couple of times. Now, the sounds are all correct, and the Muse Sampler Library is version 0.5.0

Thanks for the responses.
