I can't remove a tempo marking

• Dec 20, 2023 - 05:21

There's a random tempo marking in my score that I didn't place there. It won't let me click on it to delete it--I've tried restarting the program a few times and nothing is working! Can someone help me?

Now, think about it. Post the MuseScore file - the .MSCZ file - if you want someone to look at it. In this case, if you haven't moved too many things to custom locations, you can press [Ctrl] A and then [Ctrl] R which will select everything and move it back to it's default place and that might allow you to access the Tempo marking - if not, post the score.

What a gem of a discussion on Musescore! The insights on sheet music are both enlightening and engaging. It’s like having a personal tutor—who needs one when google is just a click away for those "wait, what?" moments? With a quick search, you can unlock a treasure trove of information. Cheers to learning and sharing our musical journeys!

Ugh, that sounds so frustrating! I've definitely run into similar glitches in music notation software before, and it's maddening when you can't just delete something obvious. Have you tried selecting the tempo marking before restarting? Sometimes highlighting the offending element first makes it selectable after the program reloads. Also, maybe check if you accidentally imported MIDI data or a template that might have embedded the tempo marking. That's happened to me before! Or perhaps there is something similar like some crazy cattle 3d type of plugins affecting your work? If none of that works, could you try exporting the score as MusicXML, then re-importing it? That can sometimes strip out weird formatting quirks. Good luck troubleshooting!
