Additional sounds for MuseScore provided for MuseScore present in Linux distributions - Muse Hub, Muse sounds manager

• Dec 23, 2023 - 18:42

I asked for a solution to the availability of additional sounds for MuseScore in the Mageia distribution - simply the Muse Hub package. I got the answer that: "Muse Hub is only available for MS Windows and Apple OS ecosystem. The equivalent for linux, Muse sounds manager is available as Appimage and prepacked deb and rpm. But there is no sourcecode to find.

Additionally i wasn‘t able to find a single linux distribution which ships muse soundmanager. The reason might be the unclear/missing source code situation."

What is the concept here, assuming there are Linux users who use MuseScore and already create files in this notation editor, where they continue the work they started in OS Windows, for example? MuseScore representing Muse Sounds is, after all, a thing that's been around for a while.

From https://www.musehub.com/eula
"You may not publish, distribute,...".

RPM installation in Mageia distribution cannot be simply done: the package manager reports that:

"Some required packages cannot be installed:
muse-sounds-manager-1.1.0.587-1.x86_64 (Due to unfulfilled libic
Continue the installation anyway?"
