Chords Staff Went Silent After Installing SoundFont

• Jan 10, 2024 - 15:51

I installed a SoundFont (Crisis 3.51 GM) to my MuseScore 3.6.2 and then added it through the Synthesizer -> Fluid -> Add dialog. I then changed one of the staffs (not the piano staff with the chords) to one of the sounds in the new SoundFont. However, the chords in my piano staff went silent. I changed the sound back, restarted MuseScore, then rebooted my laptop, none of which fixed the problem.

The new SoundFont was not added to MuseScore when I rebooted and I have not added it again. The chords column in the mixer is not muted, and when I solo it, there is no sound, so what has happened? I've tried adding new chords, but there is no sound. When I select the chord with the mouse there IS a sound. Fortunately the chords in my other scores all play, just this one does not. How do I get the chords to play again in this score?

Thanks

SOLUTION: I selected the first chord, looked at it in the Inspector and saw that the Chord Symbol -> Play checkbox was NOT checked. This was the case with all of the chords. I selected all of the chords by right-clicking the first chord and selecting Select->All Similar Element in Same Staff. I first unchecked the Play checkbox, then checked it again. This set all the chords to Play.

Still don't know why installing the SoundFont above caused the chords in my piano staff to turn Play off, but at least I got my chords back
