MuseScore4 in win10 installing but no start up

• Jan 13, 2024 - 18:59

Hi, I just installed MuseScore4 in Win10 and the first problem was the missing file mfplat.dll. This was solved downloading and installing it in Windows/ System32 and in MuseSocre4/bin install folder;
It still not starting up.
Any suggestion is welcome.
Thank you
Bruno

In spite of what the error says, that file is not in my bin folder on my system. Works fine. Try removing it from the bin folder and see what happens. Before you installed it, I assume you looked to verify that it wasn't there?

Hi, thank you for your reply. The mentioned dll file was requested by the software right after then first time installation. Then I installed the mfplat.dll. After I installed it i received the second message that the application was not able to start correctly.
If I delete mfplat.dll it keeps requesting it as missing.
I also tried to reinstall it (cleaning the register before install), but the same message comes up.
Using another Laptop I now found out that the problem is in the extraction process. There are 2 extraction error using peazip and 9 error using zip7. Why? I don't know.
I have to fix this problem before continuing installation.
Thank you
Regards Bruno

mfplat.dll seems to be a library provided with windows in a "mediapack" and may have been removed in certain window updates (depending on the exact windows version used).

I assume that, if that dll is missing, there might be more missing which would be required for MS to launch.

Please share the exact OS version installed and which file you have downloaded and installed.

Sometimes it is better to unblock the file after downloading first (right click the file, select properties and tick Unblock) before running/installing the software.

It might also be that a Anti-Virus is blocking/removing certain files from being installed.
Another option is to try if the Portable Application File works, which you can download here: https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/musescore-nightlies/windows/4x/nightly/MuseS…
