How does one change the starting tempo

How does one change the "original" tempo after the project has been created? I can see the original tempo in the upper right hand corner (see attached gif) but I cannot find any way to change it.

I fear I have not clearly stated my problem. "a tempo" keeps going back to 120 bpm even though I have 180 pbm on the first note. How does one change the tempo that "a tempo" goes back to for the entire piece without editing each instance of "a tempo"?

  1. Select the a tempo
  2. In the Properties panel, enable the checkbox "Set specific tempo"
  3. In the Tempo field under the checkbox, set the speed you want
  4. Ctrl+Shift and drag the a tempo to the Tempo palette
  5. Right-click the new item in the palette and choose Properties, add the speed to the Name property. Then the popup hint will identify which "a tempo" you are choosing in future.

[EDIT]
Per the Handbook, I thought this should work... but I can't make the item "land" in the palette.

Thanks for the work-around.

Just a suggestion... It would be more convenient if the score had a property that could be edited for the starting tempo to which the "a tempo" would automatically refer unless modified as above. Currently, an unmodified "a tempo" always returns one to 120 BPM.
