System-wide elements such as text and tempo lines sometimes get duplicated in parts

• Feb 13, 2024 - 19:27

Might be related to the bug that makes them not show up. It's pretty scary to have to delete them, since it might delete the one in the main score. Has anyone observed that, or does the main score version always remain if one of the duplicates still exists?
EDIT: ok, I observed a difference. Swing text appears duplicated in the parts, but both copies are still linked to the main score one, and deleting either will delete them both. The fix is to cut-paste the main score one. Ritardando lines, however, are duplicated in the main score itself (probably as a result of cut-pasting the whole score with ctrl+A to force all elements to show up) and thus one can delete one or the other freely in the parts (they don't immediately appear duplicated in the main score because they're fairly well aligned, whereas they get spaced apart in the parts)

I understood a bit more:
Cutting the whole score doesn't properly cut the tempo change lines, it just copies them. This means that, in the main score and the parts that would NOT have been missing them, they're duplicated upon pasting, whereas in the parts that WOULD have been missing them, the pasted one appears as the only one. However, the result is that deleting the top duplicate in the main score deletes the only copy in the bugged parts. This means that the cut-paste workaround DEFINITELY only works when selecting staves, not when selecting the whole score.

To overrule the "things don't show up in parts" bug. As I had said above, it's a workaround, not a normal thing to do. However, it seems that the right thing to do is to instead apply this process to individual staves, then to each individual system-wide element.
