Pitch names for note head properties on tab staffs.
I'm using MuseScore 4.2. I select a note on the mandolin tab staff. Then I select "Notehead scheme" on the properties menu. Selecting "Pitch names" has no effect. It works fine on the note staff.

And it can't, as tab staves don't use noteheads in the first place
This ia something for the notenames plugin I guess
You could certainly achieve this with a plugin by hiding the fret number and adding a stave text for the pitch name in its place. You may want to add an indicator to show when a pitch is on fret 12 rather than open string.
