text spacing with Cardo font

• Apr 9, 2024 - 20:56

Not really a problem, as it is easily remedied, more a curiosity.

Between 2019-2020, I engraved a large number of scores, using Musescore 3.(?)-3.6.2 on a PC. Not liking Freeserif, I set many text elements using Cardo--a font not native to Musescore, or Microsoft (It's a beautiful font, and free--y'all should check it out; Sorry, Edwin:-( ). Curiously, the vertical spacing between lines didn't display quite correctly, and I would have to hit "enter" three or more times to get the text to advance one line down. (This was not the case when I used Cardo with word processors like OpenOffice or OfficeLibre.)

Recently, I purchased a new laptop, and installed both Musescore 4.2 and 3.6.2 on it. Now, when I open those files on either version, the text displays "correctly"--which is to say with large gaps between lines. (Which often pushes appended text frames onto a new page.)

As I said, easily remedied, with a few clicks on "backspace," just curious.

As an example, here is a file which doesn't display correctly--notice the text in the horizontal frame at the top of page 2, and the text frame at the end of piece. Of course, if you don't have Cardo installed on your machine, I don't know how it will display at all. Replaced by Freeserif, or Edwin?

Fairly straightforward: the earlier version of MuS simply didn't t know how to deal with the non-native font. Presumably MuS4 does. Expect that it will do the same with other old scores. *shrug*
