In the top to stables there are whole measure rests: they are centered.

If that is a whole measure rest, then your documentation is wrong, and I'd like to request a way to force it to be a normal whole measure rest. Cadenzas don't actually change the beat count of a measure, so ways to fake it are valuable.

Then fake them with tuplets rather than a custom duration. Also plays back as expected then

On the contrary, Ctrl+Shift+Del does work. But a whole-measure rest looks different for any custom measure which has a longer duration:

I belatedly checked in Elaine Gould's notation handbook Behind Bars, and here is the short section about whole-bar rests:
Glossary:
Bar (GB) = Measure (US)
Whole-bar rest (GB) = Whole-measure rest (US)
Crotchet (GB) = Quarter note (US)
Semibreve (GB) = Whole note (US)
Breve (GB) = Double whole note (US)
