How good is MuseScore

• Aug 12, 2024 - 18:57

Folks I hope all will read this post. I started writing music back in 2004 (I think it's been so long) and I started with Finale. At that time I was in a band and my conductor introduced me to it as he needed some help finishing a score. I liked it at the time and continued with it for many years. As time went by I eventually switched to MuseScore. I have seen many sheet notation software programs demonstrated on YouTube over the many years and they all say for a beginner it's easy. Well that is debatable. I just recently saw a video on Dorico well it's looks intimidating. There is so much to it.

Well as I bring this short story to an end. I listened to some prepared pieces done in Dorico and it looks nice and sounds OK! But folks I keep coming back to how simple MuseScore is to use and especially how good it sounds on playback. I have downloaded some sound fonts into the program and I get some pretty darn good ooppss great sounding pieces of music. Most of my friends say it sounds like a real orchestra. so folks I am sticking with MuseScore for a long time to come.
