current state and future of expressive soundfont presets?

I had recently added expressive presets with CC2 control to many of my own personal soundfonts.
Those work perfectly well using SND in 3.7 Evolution, my original goal.
However in 4.3.2 and 4.4 nightly, none of the Bank 17 presets work; only the Bank 0 ones do.
SND seems to work fine, on Bank 0 - I didn't think this was possible?
Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong not getting sound from Bank 17.
If dedicated expressive presets are no longer needed, great.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain if/how SND is handled now.
Also, do I need to worry about it, or will it change radically in upcoming versions?
