If you're talking about the sustain of the pan ("steel drum") sound, they don't sustain very long. To get a sustained sound, a pan player has to strike the pan repeatedly: notated (in MuseScore) as a tremolo. In my opinion, neither the 32nd (three slash marks) nor the 64th (four slash marks) tremolo sounds quite right: the first is too slow, the second, too fast. But it's as close as you can get in MuseScore.
