Note flags intersecting with body because of too short stems

For all note with a duration of an eighth or less, my MuseScore instance intersects the flags with the body because the stems are too short. I have looked around the setting and tried playing around with the "shorten stems" option and the minimum stem length, but nothing seems to do the trick.

In the properties panel the stem length is set to 0 by default and changing this to 1 gets rid of the intersection. Is there a way to apply this to the whole score, or did I do something else wrong?

I have already tried switching for Leland to Bravura, resting all style options, and reinstalling Muse Score but nothing worked.
