MuseScore 4.4.0.242390800 CRASHES when attempt to HIDE INSTRUMENT

When I click on an 'eye' icon to hide an instrument, the spinning wheel appears, and MuseScore no longer responds, but gradually increases memory usage from 287MB to over 46GB resulting in the message 'Your system has run out of application memory'. No other apps are running at that time.
I am running the app on Mac mini 2020, Apple M1 chip, Memory 8GB, Sonoma 14.6.1
