Viola Da Gamba Tab broken on the newest version of Musescore

I just downloaded the latest version of Musescore (again), and the Tab feature for the Bass Viol is still broken. Additionally, I noticed that the option to change string tunings has been removed. According to the manual, there's now a complicated process for changing string tunings, but it doesn't seem to help with Bass Viol Tab.

I really like Musescore, but this is a major issue for me. I create tabs for both guitar and Viol, so I need to be able to change the tuning easily. The old method of selecting 'Staff Properties' and assigning strings was much simpler. So far, I haven't been able to do that, and I also haven't been able to get the Bass Viol to work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
