Insert double staff in single staff score?
Leadsheets often will have a few measures of double staff to notate bass part for a few measures then single staff. Is there a way to do that in Musescore?

Yes, add the staff then set it to hide when empty in staff/part properties. See the Handbook section on showing staves only where needed - https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/showing-staves-only-where-needed
